21st Century Community Learning Centers

We're proud to be part of 21st Century Community Learning Centers in partnership with the Florida Department of Education. The goal of 21CCLC is to enrich children's education with opportunities for continued learning during non-school hours. The program focuses on assisting students from low-performing schools and economically disadvantaged communities by providing additional instruction in reading, math, science and other core subjects essential to academic success. By complementing the regular-school day with targeted instruction, 21CCLC aspires to aid students in meeting or exceeding local and state standards.
  • Inspiring excellence
  • Providing tools for success
  • Building equal opportunity

Read2Succeed has been a proud recipient of this program since 2009 serving over 100 students and their families throughout the academic school calendar year and nine weeks during summer. In 2012 we received a second grant to serve over 120 middle school students.

Project Based Learning

Read2Succeed supports Project Based Learning (PBL) and its forty years of accumulated evidence that the instructional strategies and procedures that make up standards-focused PBL as effective in building deep content understanding, raising academic achievement and encouraging student motivation to learn. A characteristic of quality programs is the use of research-based strategies. Common research-based techniques in quality programs included scaffolding techniques, "real world" approaches that incorporate relevant cultural and social experiences, active participation and "hands on" approaches.

Read2Succeed believes strongly in the use of data as a measuring tool to determine the success of our programs. Therefore, we contract with an external evaluator to provide a Formative evaluation that measures gains half way through the program and again a Summative Evaluation to ensure that the program is meeting academic goals and objectives.

At R2S 21st CCLC summer camp, kids can expect activities and projects that activate their imagination, promote teamwork and require hands-on learning. Our certified teachers provide an in-depth and fun approach to continuing to build academic skills of all students during the summer months. Weekly field trips will ensure kids make the most of their summer vacation by allowing them to discover Miami's top attractions and learn exciting facts along the way.

In order to participate, students must have already completed their kindergarten year. Registration opens in April and will fill up quickly. Those interested in R2S 21st CCLC Summer Camp must submit completed application in person and attend Welcome Orientation in order to secure a spot.
